Maybe even without the winning you can still strive to make your work more public. Perhaps winning the Lammy would have pushed your work into another pigeonhole too ("the lesbian author" instead or as well as "the fat author"). Its hard to be denied of the pats on the back and marketing stuff, but you are already a great advocate for your work, you can learn how to market your own stuff further, and hey, look at your fans, they're still here loving your work without this award plonked on it. So yeah, keep doing it, keep going. That's right.
