That was very, very sweet. I feel satiated -- beautifully and thoroughly wished happy birthday. Thank you.

  • I talked to people in my family. It's so good to hear from them. I caught my father in the middle of a spoonful of cereal.

  • [livejournal.com profile] charlottecooper called from London!!

  • I got sung "Happy birthday" three times, twice with two voices, and it is, it is one of the amazing things about aging how the power of hearing the same voices sing me happy birthday in different circumstances, in different places, how the sounds get these echoes through time and hold so much tenderness and persistence and straight up love.

  • Wrote most of the day with [livejournal.com profile] sallybelle, and she made an omlette with eggs from my love's hens and gave me a hot pink cart to pull things around town with when on foot and critiqued another piece of the novel as I count on her to do. So good.

  • The couch is out! The futon is here, and it looks great! I once had one that splintered beneath me soon after I got it. This one, I think will hold up, and there are foam things to keep the futon from sliding around when it's a couch, and it's firm. These are technological advancements not to be sneezed at.

  • All that dust is making me wheeze.

  • My files are still disordered and some stuff I moved is still in boxes on the porch, but the cat can get to its box.

  • My friend V left a sack with smoked gouda, vermont butter company butter and apples and pears on my step. We had them with a baguette and a big salad from the greenhouse.

  • While I was typing this, the phone rang, and I got sung happy birthday to again from a cupcake party! My friend L. and I have the same birthday! People were singing from the bathtub, even though I couldn't hear them!

  • It was chocolate pudding cake with vanilla ice cream. So good. My piece had candles!

It's so good having people making a fuss on the day that I'm closer to fifty than forty. Oh, what a full, full cup, what luck, knocking green painted, salvaged old Smith desk wood. All of those wishes are streaming through me and curving back your way.

And, in a flash from [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess, Big Moves is coming to Smith College in Northampton, October 28. The troupes are touring on the east and west coasts.

Thank you very much. I'm always intrigued by the anonymous posters, and wonder if they're my friends who don't have ljs. If I know you, please do let me know.
