  • Last tomatoes from E.'s garden, cut in chunks, basil leaves torn up, a little garlic, bits of fresh mozarella that melt into the curly pasta. Plus, I almost forgot, crumbled up leftover salmon that had been broiled with lemon and pepper.

  • They're pounding together a ferris wheel and a zipper across the road. Fair time.

  • A broad, quiet desk beside the stacks in the library, where I can pop up and look at court records from the eighteenth century or the many volumes (Sadly, not all. But, a lot!) of the Works of Jonathan Edwards, with their introductions by historians who know their way around a narrative, and their capacious depth and density of hard core Jonathan Edwards.

  • Also, a big table at Sally's house. A smaller table at the Haymarket with Judy. My futon couch, which was a birthday present last year. Last night, I worked a while in the laundromat, while I washed a big load of tank tops and another of white things. Summer's not quite gone.

This just reminded me - last week I had a dream about you and Jonathan Edwards baking a pie together. Seriously. It had slipped my mind completely. How funny.
