So I'm reading in Philadelphia at Giovanni's Room!!!! Yayyy!!

Thanks [livejournal.com profile] ericaceous (and [livejournal.com profile] plasticsturgeon kind of by proxy!) and [livejournal.com profile] prrpltrrtl and all for urging me to come.

It's very soon after the end of the Nolose conference, which is looking so exciting this year. But not so soon that those of us who are going to be there can't go to every single delicious event and then drift on over the bookstore for the reading as if the conference were never going to end.

Any and all help in spreading the word about the reading to Philadelphia folks would be much appreciated!

Lucky me, I get to stay in Philly with the fabulous writer Toni Brown, who will be just back from a week in Provincetown at the Fine Arts Work Center. One of the very lovely thing about all of this travelling is the chance to spend time with old friends.

I'm editing to add that if you're in Philly this weekend, check out Queer Bodies, "a celebration of those of us in LGBT communities that live in bodies that exist outside of the cultural norms, including fat folks, trans and genderqueer folks, folks with disability issues, and others." [livejournal.com profile] beccawrites is one of the presenters, and it looks very cool. There's a fat queer flea market, too!

YAY! I'm so glad you're coming here. And great timing too! I bet we can arrange a NOLOSE caravan!

Giovanni's Room!!!! I love Giovanni's Room! well actually I grew up in the area of the NOLOSE conference, and so my theater geek friends and I went to Philly on the weekend to see shows, and then hang out around Giovanni's room and the other little gay area. I just remember feeling so cool in there!

That's great to picture I've only been to Giovanni's Room once when I read there years ago, but there's nothing like a place that made you feel cool growing up...I had an obsession with a coffeehouse called Muddy's in downtown Denver for a while -- mmm, and something else I'd heard of called the Mercury cafe -- even though I wasn't cool enough to get out of the suburbs and go to them, I'd read about them in the paper, and they represents everything hip and maybe even literary -- never mind queer -- to me.

And hey, Tushy, if you DO develop a Camryn Manheim connection, I've been trying to figure out a way to get my books to her for YEARS, so if you ever know a way to do that, let me know!

Congrats on being in your new place.

you can always mail your books to Camryn's agent.
That should be easy enough to find out. Or maybe she has a production company, everyone in Hollywood has a production company :)

I should tell you all about how i used to stalk Camryn in the village and then hooked her up on a date with my friend Dave. :)

I TOTALLY want to hear your Camryn stalking and Camryn setting up stories!

So any tips on how to go about finding her agent? I just tried the web -- again! -- and there was a site that promised such info with a 14 day free trial, but wouldn't take my credit card number when I tried to sign up. She's got a website, but there's no mailing address available. I've tried sending notes through the "contact us" link, and just did it again, but so far it hasn't helped. I can so see her as Martha Moody or Carline in Venus of Chalk, and it would just be fun for her to have the books.

i'll ask my ex-gf in LA. There's a book which lists all the actors and their agents. I think it's the SAG actors guide.
I'll find out for you.Of course I can't guarantee that their agent will give it to them, but if you can find out the agent's assistant's name, you should address it to them, and maybe give them a copy as well as ones for Camryn. Just make it look like she's expecting it.

Cool! That'd be very helpful -- and no guarantees, of course! It's just something nice to try -- and that's a good idea to send two copies.
