Dear Hive Mind (think I first saw that from
bearsir) -- it fits,
Where can I get a power adapter for a Dell Photo Printer 720? Does anybody know?
Bonus points if it's someplace that a slow-moving but sturdy Northampton writer can get to on her trike.
I tried Staples. I tried calling Dell, and finally got cut off after being transferred twice and holding for a very, very long time. I looked around on the internet, but couldn't find what Ineed. I find very cheap whole versions of this printer, but I don't want to mail order another whole printer.
I've been without a printer for weeks.
My year and a half old HP deskjet 5550 suddenly stopped feeding the paper through. I cleared a bunch of paper jams, got in touch with HP support, cleaned the feeders, as instructed, and it still doesn't work. They said they couldn't help me, but I could order a replacement for $79. I did. It was supposed to arrive last week midweek, but hasn't even been shipped. Evidently, it's back-ordered.
In the meantime, a friend gave me a never-been-used Dell Photo Printer 720 that she got when she ordered her last computer, but it turns out to be missing its power adapter. That seems to be what they call the boxy part that plugs directly into the computer. I've got a power cable, but not the power adapter. It should be cheap, since my money is very tight and I've already paid for the HP replacement that is still allegedly, eventually coming.
I may have to opt for holding out until the HP printer finally starts heading my way, but if there are any other cheap and quick options, it would be grand to know about them.

Date: 2005-10-04 03:23 am (UTC)they don't tell you this when they sell you stuff, but dell's a little notorious for not distributing printer supplies through retail outlets. when i needed a new printer cartridge for my dell printer last spring, office depot actually told me that their company can't stock cartridges by dell.
the other thing you might try is a radio shack or something, but it might just be worth it to go to the dell website directly and place an order. (unless that's what didn't work when you searched the internet.) the website seems to be friendlier -- if you've got a decent internet connection, it won't, at least, put you on hold.

Date: 2005-10-04 09:02 pm (UTC)The Dell question is on hold because, as I just told songquake, I just brought a new printer on my trike -- longest ride I've done, and it involved a bit of scary riding on a very busy road, but I made it, and the printer is here and works, so I'm back in business. And I very much appreciate your effort, especially as you were in a rush to get to work.
